    What type of program do you use to record your podcast? If you all could use Skype, the quality would be top notch. If that costs money, I would suggest to use ventrilo. It's easy to use and has good quality once it is setup correctly.

    4 suggestions:

    1. get a proper website for this podcast. the talented cast of big names you have for a podcast lineup is totally out of line with this budget Mexican hepatitis or whatever its called

    2. put a donate button on the website so people like me can donate allowing you all to buy decent sound recording devices with enough donations

    3. keep podcasting. this is awesome. i have enjoyed EVERY episode

    As far as vinyl goes, I have to disagree with Robert's analogy to an electric guitar or Marshall Stack. It's not like there's advanced superior replacement for a Stratocaster or a Marshall stack. Electric guitars still have strings and pickups. A Marshall stack is like a Stradivarius violin: nothing else sounds like it. And although there are solid state amps, they are different from, not superior to, tube amps. But vinyl is just the medium that carries the music. As much as a mourn the loss of album cover art, digitally recorded music has much superior sound quality. And someone on the podcast mentioned, I can learn about the band and see pics of them on the internet.

    I ran the mp3 through Levelator to fix the volume problem; there's a small loss of quality due to re-encoding it as mp3, but you can hear N'Gai without Jeff and Robert killing your speakers. Hope this helps people.

    I don't know if netbooks are really going to be affecting the PC game market at all. The low cost of entry and great portability are surely just going to mean that people buy these as a second computer for general internet use around the house/out and about. They'll still have the standard desktop or laptop somewhere because lets face it an 8" screen is not ideal for any kind of extended PC use.

    I was considering getting one to chuck in my camera bag as an extremely portable image review and basic editing system for when i'm on the move but I still have a multicore powerhouse in my study!

    I agree that N'Gai is barely audible and Robert is extremely loud.
    I disagree that vinyl will live on. Most kids today have no idea what a record is. How would you expect them to enjoy the subtle nuances of the sound of vinyl?
    Maybe the podcasters could try recording only their individual microphone input, and sending them to a single person to mix down. That would eliminate the huge volume disparity.

    Holy shit guys, fix the audio levels, seriously. I stopped listening maybe 1 minute in. I know you guys aren't using the highest quality setup for this podcast, but in the latest episode, I can barely hear N Gai at all, while Robert's voice is causing my ears to bleed. Love the podcast guys, but I cannot listen to this.

    As far as netbooks go,
    I was suprised to find out that I was able to run XNA studio on my eeepc 901.
    The graphics card in that thing supports Shader Model 2.0, so I'm able to use if for 360 3D game development (and it runs pretty well).

    This is the most through provoking podcast I've listened to in ages...but next time please try to sort out the mic levels before recording, or at least find someone willing to do post-processing. I had to crank the volume up and down every time the speaker changed to save my eardrums from rupturing.

    My fondest Buffy memory: in season two there is an episode where Buffy is going to a frat party and Xander makes a joke about an orgy. Being still a young kid when this episode first aired my reaction was, of course, to turn to my parents and ask, "What's an orgy?". And thus began one of my very first awkward conversations with my parents. Be glad you were spared explaining that one to your kid.

    First off, thanks to Aaron for the cleaned up version of this cast. It made it 1000x more listenable.

    On the "music loop" I'm finding myself slowly becoming overwhelmed in trying to keep up with new music and new bands to discover. I feel like I'm at the crossroads where I'm trying to keep up on current music and getting to the point where I just say "fuck it, (insert arbitrary year) was the best year in music and everything that's out today is garbage", and being done with it. I'm playing into the old bias that I used to have when I was a teenager and making judgment calls against artists I've never heard before just because they're the current "it" band. I need to stop doing that and listening to that stuff and making my own decisions.

    In that vein, what are some sources where you all are still finding info on new music?

    The outofthegame.com URL is a parked domain. It seems like it's "for sale" at http://www.dotcomagency.com/sitepages/quote.asp?name=outofthegame.com. Seems like the want at least €6 for it. Considering they've had it parked since 2006 it doesn't seem like it's a hot phrase. (So it might be cheap-ish to buy it from them.) Personally I despise companies that park domains, but as long as it's not too much more than what it'd cost to register it in the first place I guess it's ok.

    Oh and for all Euro's out there I created a collaboratibe playlist on Spotify for artists recommended by OOTG (http://open.spotify.com/user/marcushast/playlist/2dy3yeAhxW7vjBuyGriTMj). So far I have only added two of the artists mentioned in this episode but anyone can feel free to add from other episodes. (I added the top 5 songs for each artist, if you want other songs it's easy to browse around.) And please keep it to artists/songs which are explicitly named on the podcast, not stuff you think "people should listen to". (We can have another playlist for that.)
